This installation draws on my personal experience with hormonal contraception, which doctors prescribed to me without hesitation for eight years as a universal solution – for acne, pain, and heavy periods – and which I accepted for the same period as a self-evident part of everyday life. Through an illuminated bowl reminiscent of an altar holding cast replicas of the original pills, and an enlarged package insert listing side effects, I point to how easily the female body is subjected to treatment presented as salvation, often without open debate about its consequences.

At the same time, I want this work to disrupt the social stigma that prevents criticism of this practice, since gratitude for having a choice often suppresses the right to question it.
